Man Beaten By Mpls. Police Will Get More Than $75K:
A man who was beaten by a Minneapolis Police Officer will be getting a settlement. In Dec. 2008, Nicholas Kastner and another man were caught breaking into cars in a downtown parking ramp. The other man was driving as they left the ramp, but Kastner was riding along as the car they were in rammed Officer Sherry Appledorn's squad car. On surveillance video, Kastner can be seen lying facedown on the ground next to the car. The man who had been driving ran off. The crux of the case was that Kastner didn't resist, but Appledorn stomped on his back, kicked him and shocked him at least twice with her Taser, according to the federal lawsuit....
